Koeman confirms Verbruggen's place in the starting XI

Verbruggen to start in goal for Oranje at Euro 2024

Bart Verbruggen has been confirmed as the Netherlands' first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament, coach Ronald Koeman announced on Wednesday. The 24-year-old PSV Eindhoven stopper has been in impressive form this season, helping his club to the top of the Eredivisie standings. He has also been a regular member of the Netherlands squad and has earned four caps for his country.

Koeman praised Verbruggen's performances and his potential. "Bart is a very talented goalkeeper who has shown great consistency at club level," Koeman said. "He has earned his place in the team and I am confident that he will be a valuable asset to us at the Euros." Verbruggen will be hoping to help the Netherlands improve on their disappointing performance at the 2022 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals. The Oranje will be looking to make a strong run in the Euros, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14.
