Shark Attacks Off South Padre Island Leave Multiple Hospitalized
At Least Three Victims Injured

At least three people were hospitalized after suffering shark bites off South Padre Island, Texas. The attacks, which occurred on Thursday, July 4, 2024, are being described as "extremely rare."
According to Capt. Larry Rostros, the last reported shark attack in the South Padre Island area was five years ago.
The most recent attacks occurred near the 4100 block of Gulf Boulevard. One victim suffered a severe bite to the leg, while the other two victims sustained less serious injuries.
The victims were all taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is investigating the attacks.
